Mark your calenders! Saturday April 19, 2008 the [glow=red,2,300]Oklahoma Outlaw Lawmen History Association [/glow]will conduct a FREE conference at the OSU Annex Building (next door to courthouse) at Ardmore. Great speakers and authors will be talking about Oklahoma history as it relates to lawmen and outlaws of Oklahoma and Indian Territory's colorful bygone days. Start time is 8am that Saturday with guest speakers in the morning, then guided expeditions that afternoon to area historical places! The M/C will be the president of the Association, Herman Kirkwood. Herman may well be the Number 1 authority on outlaw and lawmen history in the state. You can visit the association's website at the link below...... www.okolha.net/

Looking forward to the conference. Carter and Jefferson counties have been two of my favorite places for research.

A couple of people planning on attending the OKOHLA Rendezvous April 19th tried to find a motel available the Friday evening before (18th), but to no avail. Seems there is some kind of state school tournament that weekend, and every motel in Ardmore is booked up. I do know as of today, March 25th, the Mt View Motel at the south edge of Davis, Oklahoma (25 miles north of Ardmore) has rooms available at $45 each. Phone number there is 580-369-2321. But I suggest you not wait too long to reserve. - Butch

Well, the Rendezvous has come and gone, and what a wonderful meeting it was too. 25 people showed up to listen to 4 speakers the morning of the 19th, and believe me, those speakers keep everyone glued to their seats as we listen to each indiividual expert tell his or her stories of history from long ago. I wish more could have sit in on the workshop, there was tons of free history to absorb from those dynamic guest speakers.
The next rendezvous will be held in 2009 at Konawa, Oklahoma (Ada area)!
